Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier says "a lack of goals and entertaining football" was behind the club's decision to sack Claude Puel.
The Frenchman has left after just a season in charge, having enjoyed a solid season which saw him lead the Saints to an eighth placed finish in the Premier League as well as to the League Cup final.
Southampton finished the campaign without scoring in five home matches.
Club legend Le Tissier shared his thoughts on the situation with talkSPORT in an interview.

Acknowledging that Southampton's decision may look "harsh" from the outside, Le Tissier pointed out the 17 point shortfall in points compared to the previous season as well as the poor Europa League campaign and the fact that only bottom side Sunderland scored fewer home goals during the season.
"Looking from the outside it does look harsh and the League Cup final was a terrific performance but, unfortunately, that was the exception to the rule this season," he added.
