Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that the club may have to examine the workload that they're placing on James McCarthy.
The Irish international's fitness has been the subject of scrutiny this week after he was sent home from the Ireland camp before the crucial European qualifier against Scotland.
The 24-year-old was ruled out of the game with a hamstring strain but is expected to return to first-team duty with Everton this Saturday against West Ham.
Martinez has insisted that McCarthy was desperate to play in Glasgow, but accepts that the player is still growing into the physical demands of the game and the Everton boss says that they may have to look at manager the amount of work that the midfielder is going through in training.
