Ireland manager Martin O'Neill admits that the chances of Stoke goalkeeper Shay Given making his Euro 2016 squad could improve now that Jack Butland's injured.
The England goalkeeper fractured his foot while playing in Saturday's 3-2 win over Germany in Berlin.
That means Given may step into the Stoke team for the rest of the season.
O'Neill would consider the veteran stopper for selection if that happens.
"That's unfortunate with the young goalkeeper at Stoke. But if it does, I mean I'm not picking Stoke City's team, but if that does give Shay an opportunity to play regularly between now and the end of the season, of course it gives him a really good chance," said O'Neill.
