One of the riskiest signings of the summer has decalred himself as not a risk for the club that signed him.
Mario Balotelli left it late in the day to make a move from Liverpool to Nice despite knowing he had no chance of breaking into Jurgen Klopp's plans at the club.
The Italian was out in the cold at Liverpool for over a year and only played in 28 games for the club including a failed loan spell at his former club AC Milan.
Balotelli, however, does not believe he represents a risk for the Ligue 1 club.
“To me I don’t represent a risk. I have had fitness problems, but a risk? No!” he said at his unveiling at Nice.
He has not played during the preseason and did not feature in any of Liverpool's opening games of the season.
Mina Raiola is singing a similar tune and says his client had plenty of offers despite leaving it late in the transfer window to make a decision on his future:
"Nice was not a last resort for Mario. He had many offers," Raiola said at Balotelli's Nice unveiling.
"There were alternatives in Italy, in Germany, in England, in Spain, but we chose this. The French league is interesting and is played offensively."
Hatem Ben Arfa, a man once compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and the likes made a move to Nice in similar fashion and now plies his trade for Paris Saint Germain following an electrifying season with the French club.
