A report in Spanish sports daily MARCA claims Manchester United will turn down the chance to appoint Jose Mourinho as manager should they part ways with Louis van Gaal.
The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss has long been linked with the Reds, although other claims suggest the club have other targets.
Marca claims, United's executives have lined up club legend and Van Gaal assistant Ryan Giggs as the next manager and successor as they try to reestablish themselves at the top end of the game.
According to MARCA, United's preference to not go for Mourinho is due to them wanting to bring in "a figure that won't overshadow the club".
