Manchester City's 3-1 win over Dynamo Kiev un Ukraine on Wednesday night was the first time a Premier League team won the first leg of a Champions League knockout game since 2012.
On the way to winning the Champions League in 2012, Chelsea defeated Barcelona 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final in Stamford Bridge. From that game in London, to City's win in Kiev, Premier League sides had not won a first leg at 14 times of asking.

That run of 14 games without a win included nine losses and five draws. Of the 12 ties up to last season that were completed, the Premier League team advanced to the next round on only four occasions.
