Manchester United's preseason preparations were thrown into further disorder this weekend, when their team plane was forced to make an emergency landing.
Jose Mourinho's side are currently based in Asia for the International Champions Cup and after suffering a 4-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Friday, they were gearing up for a restorative performance against Man City tomorrow in Beijing.
But after departing from Shanghai over the weekend, their plane encountered some bad weather and they were forced to land urgently, to allow the adverse conditions to pass. United are due to train in the Chinese capital today and Mourinho has a press conference to attend, but the unexpected travel delay has thrown those plans into doubt.
Winger Memphis Depay posted an update on his Facebook page about the incident.
"We are lost somewhere. We tried to fly to Beijing but the weather is a little bit bad."
Beijing has been plagued by bad weather over the past week to the extent that there are concerns over whether Monday's match at the Bird’s Nest will go ahead.
