Liverpool suffered a major setback to their Premier League title hopes today following a 3-2 defeat to Swansea.
Two goals from Roberto Firmino offered some hope of a Liverpool comeback and a possible victory, but Gylfi Sigurdsson dealt the fatal blow to secure the Swansea win and pull them out of the relegation zone for the moment.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are third in the table behind Spurs, who face Man City in the 5.30pm kick-off this evening.
Trailing by a goal, and with the final whistle approaching, Liverpool employed the 'long ball' strategy. This seemed like a somewhat peculiar move considering what Jurgen Klopp had to say about it following his side's meeting with Manchester United last weekend.
After their 1-1 draw, a frustrated Klopp told BBC Sport:
"They played long balls in a wild game. We played the better football and had the better plan."
After resorting to the long ball tactic today, Man United fans didn't hesitate to accuse Liverpool of hypocrisy.
Inevitable Klopp will be goaded for his 'Mourinho long-ball' jibes after today...every team goes long when a late goal is needed #LFC #MUFC

Liverpool playing long balls against the bottom side in the table, a week after Klopp criticised us for doing it. Got to love it.

There is nothing wrong with going down the long ball route. It's just weird how Klopp had such a problem with it, and then used it.

Klopp criticized Mourinho's 'long ball' tactics. Resorted to send Matip upfront for an equalizer. Matip ain't no Fellaini son! #MUFC
