Luke Shaw has written to an Irish family on the birth of their son, after they lost their daughter last year.
Steve de Korte and his fiance Sarah welcomed their son Luke into the world recently, and Shaw was quick to send a letter of congratulations to the Red Devils' fans.
Having lost their daughter, Ava, last year, Steve's brother wrote to Manchester United with little hope of any response.
Steve said that "one day we got a letter from Louis van Gaal wishing us well. We were going through hell, living up in Dublin and in Holles Street every night, but it did help us through a bit."
Steve was so thankful for the letter that he wrote to the girl who had arranged the letter from Van Gaal and she went to the hassle of telling Luke Shaw, who was quick to send his own letter when the De Korte's son was born.

"When I read the letter this morning, you can tell it is heartfelt. It is not a generic email. There was nice words in it and it meant a lot, The fact that he acknowledged our little girl meant a lot. She might not be here, but is still part of out lives," Steve told the Independent.ie.
