Louis van Gaal gives some bad news on the Wayne Rooney injury front

As Manchester United prepare to take on Arsenal on Sunday, they will be without striker Wayne Rooney, who damaged ligaments in his knee earlier this month.

As he looks to recover from that injury, manager Louis van Gaal gave an update that won't be pleasant for Manchester United fans or Roy Hodgson to hear.

The Dutchman stated that Rooney would not be available for England duty next month as they take on Germany and Holland in friendly matches ahead of the Euros.

"Wayne has a brace fitted now and he has to wear it for two-and-a-half weeks," said Van Gaal. "After that we then have to look again. Now he’s resting and isn’t able to do any work yet. He has to be ready for us – not the English team".

The Daily Express have taken that quote and run with it a bit, stating that his presence at the Euros is in doubt as a result of his enforced absence for the next few weeks.
