WATCH: 'I have a feeling that Salah's gone' | Will Liverpool forward leave?

Kenny Cunningham believes that Egypt forward Mo Salah may leave Liverpool this summer, if they win the Premier League.

Cunningham told OTB AM that he feels Salah might be one of the casualties should Liverpool, as expected, finish top of the table.

"If they win the league title, it is a phenomenal achievement," says Cunningham.

"But the great managers are always a step ahead of the game and Klopp is closer to those players than we are, and [he might] gets a sense that he needs to change something.

"I do notice with Salah, even at Anfield, you just get a feeling of something [negative] coming from the crowd - if he misplaces a pass, or is a little bit sloppy.

"Whereas a year or two ago, he could do no wrong."

Salah to leave?

The counterpoint was put to Cunningham that the frustration comes from Salah being a player that tries things that do not always come off, in a similar way to Bruno Fernandes' nascent Manchester United career.

"His numbers are incredible and as a manager, even with a slight dip this season, there is little argument for getting him out of the football club.

"Sometimes as a manager, you have to make a statement by throwing a grenade into the dressing room. You almost have to pre-empt it.

"The best managers just get a sense - a sneaking feeling - and just make a bold decision.

"For me, it wouldn't surprise me if we saw 'whoa - Sancho is in and Salah is out' - something of that nature."

As for either Salah, or colleague Sadio Mane, taking a reduced role if they bring in someone like Timo Werner, Cunningham is unsure whether the pair would settle for 10 to 15 games fewer next season,

"I don't think that you can bring a top-class forward in to complement those three, you have to sacrifice one to bring another one in."
