Ligue 1 club Nice to pay tribute to victims of last month's terror attack

Ligue 1 club Nice will pay tribute to the 85 victims of the Bastille Day terror attack during their opening game of the season this week.

The club will play in a white kit featuring no sponsor for its season opener with Rennes on August 14 - a month after a truck attack on the Promenade des Anglais claimed the lives of 85 people.

There will be a minute's silence before kick-off and the club has requested that fans remain quiet while the players enter the pitch. The names of each of the 85 victims will be read aloud while balloons are released into the air.

"An individual tribute will be paid to each of the 85 victims," the club said in a statement. ""Nothing will ever be the same, but we need to get back on our feet."

The club has also requested that fans attending the match wear white. Match jerseys will feature a heart made of the names of the 85 dead and will be auctioned to raise funds for the victims.
