Frank Lampard has extended his contract with Manchester City until the end of the current season.
The 36-year-old's loan deal from New York City was due to expire at midnight last night but he will now stay until the summer.
A statement on Manchester City’s website read: “Manchester City can confirm that it has extended Frank Lampard’s contract up to the end of Manchester City’s season, enabling his continued participation in both domestic and European campaigns.”
As a result, Lampard will miss the start of the MLS season.
The former England international has scored six goals in 17 appearances for City this term and will be available to face Sunderland at the Ethihad today (3.0).
