Frank Lampard broke Chelsea hearts – including possibly his own – with a late equaliser for Manchester City at the Etihad this afternoon.
City and Chelsea played out a dull game for long periods – the first 45 minutes saw six yellow cards but few chances. It wasn’t until Andre Schurrle scored a tap in at the far post in the middle of the second half that there was signs of life.
Pablo Zabaleta had been sent off five minutes previously and Chelsea looked on course for a valuable win, and the maintaining of their 100% record.
Lampard squared things with five minutes left, scoring against his former club. The former Chelsea captain declined to celebrate the goal.
