Lampard positive his side will bounce back from City loss

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard suggested that his side are in a tough run of form at the moment, but that they will get better.

Following his side's 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, the talk surrounding Lampard's potential firing as Chelsea manager increased.

The Athletic UK reported after the match that they have sources within the club that believe that the club are looking at options to replace the Chelsea legend.

Lampard, though, is not concerned about the rumours of his Chelsea exit, as he is focused on improving the team and getting back to a winning ways.

"A month ago everyone was asking me where we can go to, where am I going to go, where is the new contract," Lampard said. "Now it is the opposite of that.

"I can't control that, or we can't control that. What we can control is what we do tonight, tomorrow and the next day, and what we do against Morecambe, and what we do against Fulham.

"I will be the first to look at myself today, but when I look at the squad, I know that there is uplift in this team. It is normal that as a squad we take little knocks along the way, now is a test."

Lampard thinks Chelsea will bounce back

While Lampard acknowledged that Chelsea are not playing their best football at the moment, he suggested that they will bounce back.

He added that, in football, every team and player will have ups and downs, and the best players are the ones that lift themselves out of the lows to get to the highs.

"At the minute we are in a period, a five or six game period that none of us like," Lampard said. "I think if you go back to the first year of City in this regime or Liverpool, there were periods of pain.

"You have to fight through that and that come with reviewing this game and looking at how we can be better as we go on.

"If you have been in football this long, and I said this to the players at half time, I sat there and had those days and lifted a trophy at the end of the year.

"We are in a different period now, but any player in football is going to have moments like that. Without a doubt we have [the players to bounce back]."
