LA Galaxy manager says Robbie Keane will be ready for Euro 2016

Robbie Keane is fully expected to recover from knee surgery in time for Euro 2016, according to LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena.

Keane underwent knee surgery last week in California after missing Ireland's double-header against Switzerland and Slovakia last month. The Republic of Ireland captain last played an international match against Poland last Ocotber.

The LA Galaxy striker was an unused sub in Ireland's two play-off games against Bosnia-Herzegovina in November as Martin O'Neill seems to be focusing his attack on players like Shane Long and Daryl Murphy.

Arena is quoted on the LA Galaxy website, telling reporters that Keane will be expected back in May after recovering from the necessary surgery. "He needed it; he had some loose pieces in his knee and needed to have those removed. It’s a fairly normal (occurrence)."

"It’s cartilage and a lot of players have some type of issue with their knees at some point. He should be fine. I’d say in close to a month, he’ll be back to full speed."

Keane has played three games in MLS this season before the surgery. The Dubliner has scored twice so far for the team this season as the California club lie in fourth place in the Western Conference.
