Jurgen Klopp has paved the way for the exit of Christian Benteke by saying that it makes sense for the Liverpool striker to leave the club.
The Liverpool boss says that the forward has "accepted" this following word that the Belgian striker was prepared to go on loan with the transfer window closing on August 31.
After arriving at the Premier League club only a year ago, he has struggled to find a place in Klopp's plans for next season and Klopp says it is time to give other strikers a run.
"Christian is still a great striker. That's how it is. We have a few more strikers in this moment and I think it makes more sense for us to give them match time and playing time and that's what we did. If there are clubs outside that want for example a striker from us, then they have to make real offers," he said.
Klopp already has Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings as players capable of leading the line.
Mario Balotelli is also due to leave Anfield if a buyer can be found between now and August 31st.
