John Hartson on feeling blessed and the pundits he respects

Who is the pundit that John Hartson respects most?

The former Celtic, West Ham and Arsenal striker has been analsying matches for a number of years now and tonight at the Off The Ball Roadshow in Galway, he explained why he thinks recently retired Match of the Day pundit Alan Hansen was the man:

"I like Alan because I respected the fact that Alan Hansen was 20 years in that hotseat on BBC. He put himself in that position where he was open to criticism. I thought he was very articulate, honest - made a few mistakes as you're going to," he admitted.

Hartson also spoke about his recovery from cancer and why he feels blessed, adding that everyday he still thinks about his experience with the disease that nearly claimed his life.

The former Wales international also reminisced about an eventful career, including his spell at West Ham, his experience at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, how he nearly signed for Rangers and what it's like to score against them.

Plus he also shared his fond memories of playing alongside former Celtic star Henrik Larsson and retold the story of the infamous training ground bust-up with former West Ham team-mate Eyal Berkovic, which saw him kick the Israeli player in the head on camera.

"I deeply regretted that incident with Eyal. It was a period of my life where I just sort of lost control for a minute," he said, before joking, "and the fortunate thing was the cameras were there."
