When Alex Ferguson brought out his controversial second autobiography last October, John Giles was consistently critical of the decision to publish it.
With Ferguson's former Manchester United captain Roy Keane bringing out his book today, John told Off The Ball that he is saddened by the situation and is still "mystified" by Ferguson's decision to publish the autobiography which kicked off the sniping between two men who won so many trophies together at United.
"I wouldn't be looking forward to it," said John of Keane's book, although he did say that he will read it.
John highlighted the bond of achieving success together as Ferguson and Keane did for so long, citing his own relationship with his former Leeds manager Don Revie, who he used to visit in his final years battling motor neuron disease.
He also looked ahead to Ireland's Euro 2016 qualification match against Gibraltar and feels that Robbie Keane should start against the group minnows, but not against Germany on Tuesday.
Harry Redknapp's new book has a compliment for John and John gave his take on playing against the current QPR manager in the 1960s and what he likes about the ex-West Ham and Tottenham's management style.
He also revealed that Revie wanted to get rid of Jack Charlton when he first took over at Leeds, but that former Ireland manager turned over a new leaf and became a central pillar for club and country.
