John Giles: Marcus Rashford rise the type of thing which "rescues managers"

John Giles feels Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford is the type of player that "rescues" managers.

With the 18-year-old's four goals in three games, the mood around Man United has lifted and they have now strung together three wins in all competitions to go level on points with fourth placed Manchester City.

John has been impressed with Rashford so far and feels he will be a "huge plus for Van Gaal", adding that it's "the type of thing which rescues managers".

He explained: "This is somebody now that the crowd can latch on to. He's a local boy in the team, he's scoring goals and this is huge for the manager. Huge! Because it gives them hope, takes the pressure off the other players, takes the pressure off the manager. So it's a good sign for him."

However, John still has doubts about United's form despite three wins in a row in all competitions.

"I didn't think they played really well against Arsenal. I just thought Arsenal were so bad. I thought the quality in the game was terrible and they happened to be the better team on the day. They've still got a lot to do," he said.
