John Giles feels the comparisons being made to former England captain Byran Robson in regards to Dele Alli make little sense.
The Tottenham midfielder has made a rapid rise to prominence this season and appears to be a certain starter at Euro 2016.
England manager Roy Hodgson cited ex-Manchester United skipper Robson as "the player I’d like to think he could become".
John, who played with Robson at West Brom in the late '70s is sceptical about those comparisons as he told Off The Ball tonight.
"He's a very talented lad, don't get me wrong. What he does, he does well. He's not as level-headed as he should be. He gives fouls away. I don't like him for that and I think Hodgson's comparisons with Bryan Robson was outrageous," said John, who also explained why captain Wayne Rooney could be England's best bet in midfield this summer, alongside Leicester's Danny Drinkwater.
