John Giles believes Pep Guardiola is in a win-win situation even if Manchester City win the Champions League this season.
If City go all the way this season, it would mirror the situation when he took over Bayern Munich three years ago just after they had won the Champions League.
"I think he's in a win-win situation. If Manchester City go on to do well then he's taking over a team that's won the Champions League and if thy win the Champions League, they have to be doing something right," he said on Off The Ball.
John also believes that even if Real Madrid remain favourites to win this year's Champions League, Atletico Madrid can go all the way.
"I think they could win it," he said, while also praising the attitude of Diego Simeone's team.
Plus, John does not think Manchester City are as good as the three other semi-finalists.
He also shared his memories of Paul Gascoigne, who scored a brilliant FA Cup semi-final free-kick against Arsenal 25 years ago today.
