James Horan expects Clare to be "competitive" when they take on Kerry in the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
The former Mayo manager spoke to Off The Ball and was highly impressed with them as a team and with individuals.
"I think Clare will make a good fist of it. They'll be competitive," he said.
"Some of their players right throughout the team were extremely good the last day and are really competent players. Martin McMahon at corner back had the highest number of possessions of any player on the field. He had over 30 possessions and he's their corner back.
"And he was bombing up the field all the time. Sean Collins deserves a mention as well. I've seen a couple of their games this year and he's been consistently good all the time - a really good defender. Cathal O'Connor as well in midfield is a great foil for Gary [Brennan]."
He also sang the praises of half-forwards Keelan Sexton and Jamie Malone.
"They're a competent team. Their confidence will be sky high. Gary Brennan [and the team] will want to show what they can do at Croke Park against the big guys. So their motivation for that will be huge. So they're going to be competitive for sure."
