Ireland shoot up the latest FIFA World Rankings

Ireland have risen a glorious eight spots in the latest FIFA World Rankings to joint 52nd.

Martin O'Neill's side are level with the Cape Verde Islands who drop 14 places and South Korea who are up six spots.

Despite the disappointing draw with Scotland, the ranking points have helped Ireland climb the rankings along with points gained from the scoreless draw against England.

Ireland are now behind 30 European teams in the rankings, putting the teams Euro 2016 qualifying hopes in perspective.

Despite losing the Copa America final, Argentina are top of the rankings moving up from third spot, ahead of Germany and Belgium. England and Wales are in the top ten, in ninth and tenth place respectively.

Scotland and Northern Ireland are also ahead of Martin O'Neill's side in the rankings. Scotland have dropped a place to 29th and Northern Ireland jump seven spots to 37th.
