Though this summer's football was slightly dimmed by our absence from the World Cup, our team at this year's Homeless World Cup in Chile have been doing the green shirt proud.
Two victories yesterday (beating Wales 6 - 2, and Sweden 11 -3 ) have guaranteed us a spot in the tournament's second group stages, a remarkable bounce-back after an unimpressive 7 - 2 loss to Mexico the day before.
The first game of the group, Ireland v Romania, begins at 15.20 and can be streamed live here.
Ireland is represented by a team from the Irish Homeless Street leagues, who target players from underprivileged and excluded communities, including ex-offenders and those under rehabilitation for substance abuse.
The annual Homeless World Cup first took place in Austria in 2003, and now features teams from 70 nations.
