Damien Duff believes it's a "disgrace" that Robbie Keane is so underappreciated

"I think it's a bit of a disgrace sometimes because for me, he's a friend, but he's been an amazing player to play with."

That was Damien Duff on his close friend and long-time former international team-mate Robbie Keane when he spoke to Team 33 in a short chat at the launch of the new Republic of Ireland jersey at Life Style Sports.

The ex-Chelsea and Newcastle winger was discussing the occasional criticism Ireland's record goalscorer has received, and perceptions that the Los Angeles Galaxy striker is under-appreciated.

"People say he hasn't scored big goals. He has scored big goals in big games and that's coming from me, who scored eight petty little goals," said Duff. He added that it's only when Keane retires that people will realise just how good he was and what he achieved for this country.

Duff also spoke about the effect his 2002 World Cup bow celebration had on Asian fans long after that tournament, Ireland's Euro 2016 chances and how his former manager at Chelsea, Claudio Ranieri, is masterminding an extraordinary season in charge of Leicester City.

You can listen to the short chat at the start of this week's Team 33 podcast (or stream free on iTunes) which also includes an interview with the creator of Arsenal's official mascot Gunnersaurus and some nostalgia of a Pro Evolution 6 nature:
