It was far from a vintage performance from Manchester City but they did get two away goals and emerged unbeaten from tonight's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
A 2-2 draw from an error-strewn match gives Man City something to build on in the return leg but as ESPN's John Brewin told Off The Ball after the full-time whistle, it was an odd match to make sense of.
"It was very, very strange," he said, adding that PSG looked like a team more used to stream-rolling weaker opposition as they do in Ligue 1.
"I think Manchester City actually could have had three away goals and claimed a most famous win in Paris. That's not to say that there weren't moments of almost the Manchester City I used to know when I was a lad.
"Fernando's contribution to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's equaliser was a sensational piece of dilly-dallying on the ball and that in itself is an act of complacency. It really distilled what the accusation has been against Manchester City this season which is that they are complacent and not as good as they should be. But they've come away with a great result from Paris."
However, he also pointed out that PSG did go to Chelsea last season and emerged with the result they needed to get through that tie.
