Harry Redknapp does not know the name of the Australian team he has joined

Harry Redknapp has joined A-League team Central Coast Mariners as a football consultant, but has added he wont be travelling to Australia.

Redknapp has not managed at club level since leaving Queens Park Rangers in February 2015. Earlier this year he took charge of Jordan for two games where he recorded a win and a loss. It was his first time in international management, less than three years after being tipped to become England's manager.

The 69-year-old told TalkSport that he was taking on the role, to complement the similar work he is doing with Derby County. "I met the owner, he’s a great, great guy. He's an English guy who owns the club. Peter Storrie’s involved and they’ve got an English coach as well. They wanted me to do a little bit as an advisor".

When asked by the presenter what the name of the club was, Redknapp said they were "South Coast Mariners" and was not pulled up by Alan Brazil.

According to The Guardian, the Mariners revealed last week, that the English manager was to travel "at least two occasions during the season and hopefully more during the off season".

The Gosford-based team finished at the foot of the A-League table this season. Among their players is former Cork City striker Roy O'Donovan who last week won the A-League's Goal of the Season award.
