Harry Arter is raising money in memory of his daughter Renee

Personal tragedy is something that has been well documented in the life of Harry Arter and his partner Rachel, but the Ireland international has refused to let it define him.

Last December, they had their hearts broken when their daughter, Renee, was stillborn.

Arter somehow found the strength to help guide Bournemouth to victory over Manchester United four days later.

"I used what happened to say to the lads: 'Listen, I've experienced how short a life can be, what's happened to my little baby could happen to someone in this team, so make sure you give everything today because these football moments are not going to last forever, and what I've learned from this experience is that life can end at any second'" he told the Guardian in January.

Now, he has started to raise money for charity 4Louis in a bid to raise vital funds for the charity, who support bereaved parents that experience stillbirth, neo-natal, infant and child loss.

"Harry is trying to do something positive in the memory of his daughter and that is supported by the whole club. Every player within the squad has given something as well, that makes it a real team effort" Howe told the club's official website.

"That’s the beauty of this squad. They are so close and when one person is hurt or upset they group around – that’s been one of our strengths and hopefully it will continue to be going into the future.

"Whenever a player has had a problem or a tragedy, the club and the community have always supported them – that’s really relevant in this case."

Among those who have donated items to auction off have been Adam Lallana, Troy Deeney and brother-in-law Scott Parker.
