Hannover confirm defender is positive for COVID-19

Germand second division football club Hannover have confirmed that their defender Timo Hubers has contracted the coroavirus.

Hubers, 23, is in quarantine at home as the rest of the Hannover playing staff are being tested.

The statement came on the club website and Hubers was praised for his quick and considerate action by sporting director, Gerhard Zuber.

'Timo behaved in an exemplary manner," said Zuber.

"He has himself shown no symptoms up to now.

"When he found out that a person who had been with him at the event had tested positive, he reported directly to the doctor and temporarily went into quarantine at home."

The entire Hannover team and their coaching staff are being tested as a precautionary measure.

Arsenal team self-isolate

Meanwhile, Arsenal players have been placed in self-isolation after meeting an coronavirus carrier, as their match with Manchester City has been postponed.

In the most dramatic sporting turn so far in England, the Gunners confirmed that unnamed players have been placed into self-isolation as a precautionary measure.

The news comes after Off The Ball reported that Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis was in attendance at Arsenal's home game against Olympiakos. He has since been diagnosed with having the COVID-19 strain of the infection.
