Football had finally lost the run of itself.
Many players from all around the world are following the money to the Far East, as China's teams are beginning to show their financial clout.
Players like Graziano Pelle, Gervinho, Demba Ba, Gael Kakuta and Paulinho have previously played in the Premier League and are now plying their trade in the Chinese Premier League.
Qinhuangdao team Hebei China Fortune were willing to make Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain the best-paid player in the World. The reported numbers are eye-watering.
Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain turns down £800,000 a week to play for Hebei China Fortune

That's over €950,000 a week and almost €50,000,000 a year, yet Higuain has reportedly turned the offer down.
The Argentina striker was the top-scorer in last season's Serie A. The Napoli star scored 36 goals, equalling Gino Rossetti's record from 1929.
It looks like there will be many more outrageous offers from China, for some marquee players before the end of the Transfer Window later this summer.
