The president of the French FA has suggested that it will be possible for Karim Benzema to return to the France side.
But he says the decision will ultimately lie with manager Didier Deschamps.
Benzema was excluded from the French national side ahead of Euro 2016 on home soil due to an investigation into an attempted blackmail of international team-mate Mathieu Valbuena.
But speaking to French sports outlet L'Equipe, French Football Federation chief Noel Le Graet says the door is open for the player to make a return once the judicial authorities have made a ruling in the case.
"I'm against lifelong punishments. We will not take any risk, whatever it is. He didn't play the Euros and the situation is quite something. There's no problem between Didier and me on this matter," he said.
"When you examine the rules, Benzema is selectable, like a lot of players. Nasri, for instance. When the court of justice have ruled on the case, then it will be down to Didier to bring him back or not."
