Gardai are investigating an incident involving a member of the public at the Dublin hotel where the Republic of Ireland football team are staying.
In a statement, the FAI says Assistant Manager Roy Keane alerted Gardai to the incident yesterday evening.
Gardai say they are investigating, however it's understood no complaints have been lodged by any party involved.
The FAI also says that both they and Manager Martin O'Neill are fully aware of the circumstances surrounding the event and that Roy Keane has their full support.
The team fly to Scotland today for their European Championship qualifying game.
The FAI released the following statement:
"Following inaccurate media reports which refer to an incident involving a member of the public this evening at the Republic of Ireland team hotel, we wish to clarify that Roy Keane called the Gardai following the incident.
"The manager, Martin O'Neill and the FAI are fully aware of the circumstances surrounding this event, and the Assistant Manager has their full support."
