Ahead of City's Champions League play-off with Steaua Bucharest, UEFA seemed to beat the club to news of the transfer. On Tuesday morning, they published both squads on their website, and Stones was listed despite not being offically confirmed by Pep Guardiola's side.

The England international signed a six-year deal and becomes the second most expensive defender of all time. Depite reports of a swap deal being involved in the transfer, no Manchester City players have moved to Everton.
Speaking to The Guardian, a UEFA spokesperson said that Stones was on the list given to the organisation ahead of Monday's deadline.
"Maybe it was a misunderstanding between us and them. Possibly they were not aware that it would go live on our website so quickly but for us it’s a standard procedure. It’s the first time that something like this has happened."
Stones may make his debut this weekend in the Premier League against Sunderland on Saturday evening.
