WATCH: Documentary on Liverpool's title win airs tonight and it looks excellent

With the new season quickly approaching, Liverpool fans will have a chance to look back on the previous campaign and a famous year at Anfield which saw the Reds becoming the champions of England for the first time in 30 years.

Despite the recent disappointment of their defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield, Liverpool fans will begin the new campaign with plenty of reasons to be optimistic because right now, Jurgen Klopp's men are still the team to beat in England.

After ending the 2019/20 campaign on 99 points - 18 more than their nearest challengers Manchester City - it's clear that Liverpool have set the standard for every other team to match.

However, while Liverpool fans are already looking forward to their season opener against Leeds United, BBC Two's documentary Liverpool FC: The 30-Year Wait will definitely provide a fond look back over their most recent season.

Airing at 9pm on Sunday night, the documentary features insights from owner John Henry, boss Jurgen Klopp and an impressive array of former Liverpool managers and player.

The list includes Rafa Benitez, Roy Evans, Gerard Houllier and Brendan Rodgers, while the likes of Mohamed Salah, Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, Robbie Fowler, John Barnes and Michael Owen will also provide their insights too.

'The 30-Year Wait' will be narrated by Liverpool fan Jason Isaacs and tells the story of Liverpool's three-decade-long hunt for England's top-flight trophy - from the club's anguish on the '90s angst through to European glory and Klopp's transformative arrival.

In terms of an official synopsis, it states that the documentary will be "examining the story of Liverpool’s quest to return to the top of English football by winning the Premier League. It is a revealing insight into why the club fell away after their domination of football in the 80s - how the club’s identity was shaped by both the tragedies of Heysel and Hillsborough, the struggle to keep up with the rapidly changing world of football, and the Jurgen Klopp revolution that has returned them back to the summit of the game."
