Di Maria asks to leave, Khedira turns down contract

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed in today's press conference, ahead of the return leg of the Spanish Super Cup tomorrow, that Angel Di Maria has asked to leave Real Madrid while Sami Khedira has turned down an offer of a new contract.

While Ancelotti denied any disagreements between himself and the club, he has admitted that Angel Di Maria no longer wants to be a member of the squad.

"Di María has asked to leave and has rejected a new contract offer from the club. This is a situation the player himself has to resolve. If he doesn’t seek a solution for his future, he’ll keep working with us and there won’t be any problems" explained the Italian.

The Argentinian has been heavily linked with Manchester United throughout the summer with the Premier League club willing to spend up to £100 million on the fee and wages needed to take the winger to the club.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti has also cast fresh doubts over the future of Sami Khedira at Santiago Bernabeu, telling reporters today that he hasn't requested a transfer, but has turned down a new deal:

“He has a year left on his contract and has rejected a renewal, although his situation is somewhat different [to Di Maria's], because he hasn’t asked to leave.”

Arsenal are the main protagonists on the trail for the 27 year-old whose position in the Champions League winners' midfield looks in jeopardy after the signings of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez in this window.
