Derby have confirmed manager Nigel Pearson won't take charge of tonight's Championship match at Cardiff pending an internal investigation.
Assistant manager Chris Powell will lead the team in his absence.
It is thought Pearson has been suspended by the club, following a meeting with the club's owner and chairman Mel Morris earlier on Tuesday.
He only took over in May but the Rams have been in poor form and sit third from bottom after six games.
In a statement, Derby said: "Derby County can confirm that Manager Nigel Pearson will not be carrying out his duties at tonight’s game at the request of the club.
"Assistant Manager Chris Powell will take charge of the team for this evening’s Sky Bet Championship match at Cardiff City. The club will make no further comment at this time."
