Watford captain Troy Deeney has said they never doubted they could produce a shock at Vicarage Road in the Premier League's final game today.
The Hornets produced one of the biggest upsets of the season so far by hammering leaders Liverpool 3-0.
The Reds were going for a historic 19th successive top-flight win while Nigel Pearson's side hadn't won in five league games going into the tie.
Deeney, who scored the home side's third goal of the evening said having complete confidence in themselves was key.
"We spoke about it all week - everyone's been talking about how good Liverpool are, which they are, but someone's got to beat them and why can't it be us?
"Especially on our home patch, we're a very tough outfit to beat, we get up in people's faces and that's what we did and forced the errors.
"There was a belief that we can get at them.
"We knew we was in the game, we knew we'd have to ride our look at times but we had a real tight, compact block and hit them on the counter-attack aggressively.
"When you've got the pace inside you're always in with a chance and thankfully we got the goals today."
Deeney was also keen at full-time to praise his team-mate, Senegalese Ismaila Sarr, who scored the other two goals in a six-minute spell in the second half.
He felt the way he and 22-year-old Sarr took on Dejan Lovren, in particular, was an important element in getting the victory.
"When you've got Sarr, who's got raw pace, it's very difficult to stop him and any defender doesn't want to face their own goal so we just wanted to get at them.
"van Dijk is a class act, he's probably for me top five defenders in the world and it's tough to get anything from him, he's 6 ft 6, fast and strong so you pick the weaker of the two, no disrespect to Lovern.
"I knew as well he wanted to fight me and that's my game so if you want to fight me you're in for a tough night."
The result takes Watford out of the relegation zone on goal difference as they continue their fight to stay up under manager Nigel Pearson.
Deeney praised the boss at full-time but also said it's up to them as players to perform as the season enters it's final three months.
"That's the expectation.
"There is pressure but I love it, this is what it's all about, there's no point playing high-level sport if there's no pressure.
"These fans expect it now, this is the level, everyone saw it and if you drop below it you'll get hammered for it.
"We've played well in other games and the gaffer has got us in a position where we've got a fighting chance but not only that we believe we can really kick on in the last 10 games."
