Dundalk midfielder Daryl Horgan believes the club's 3-1 aggregate win over BATE in the Champions League third qualifying round is the best European night for a League of Ireland side.
He played a key role in the first of Dundalk's three goals on Tuesday night as the Lilywhites reach the playoff round, showing good close control and awareness on the left flank before delivering an inch-perfect cross for two-goal David McMillan
Speaking to Oisin Langan after the full-time whistle, Horgan put the result right up there among famous nights for Irish clubs.
"It was an unbelievable performance and probably the best result by an Irish team has ever had in Europe," he said.
The manner of the victory in the sense that it wasn't backs-to-the-wall was equally pleasing.
"It was great. Irish teams sometimes 'it's let's defend a goal, sit back and cagey'. I'd rather watch that game. I thought we played excellent.
