David Meyler believes that Damien Duff may end up in another job soon, following his departure from the Republic of Ireland setup.
The former Ireland captain joined The Football Show to discuss this week's events across the sport and attention turned to Duff leaving.
Duff
"We know how good a player he was, but by all accounts he is a fantastic coach. So you would want him around the team," Meyler said.
"I would like to think that he is not annoyed or peed off with anything that has gone on. I hope that it is not that kind of stuff, because if you can get a couple of people in a room then surely the issue could be resolved.
"The timing of it is very strange. In my mind - and I don't know - there is a bigger picture for him. The bigger picture that he is going to go into a manager's job somewhere. Maybe he has something lined up.
"It is just the timing of it [...] I imagine that Damien is a strong-minded person and once his mind is made up then it is made up."
Coleman & Henderson
After Micah Richard earmarked James Milner as the player he is closest to in football, Meyler got greedy and chose two former team-mates as his most 'inspirational.'
"Seamus Coleman and Jordan Henderson - I wouldn't like to pick between the two of them," Meyler said.
"Seamus was well-established in the Ireland team before I was called in in 2012. Even as I sit here now, I was speaking to Seamus this afternoon.
"At Sunderland when I first arrived, Jordan had a knock and my registration hadn't arrived. We were playing Hartlepool with the reserves, and I ended up sitting next to him and got chatting to him."
What makes the pair so special?
"Those two, the biggest compliment I can give them is that I would like my daughter to bring home a man like one of those two - they are just terrific role models. The way they are as husbands and fathers - they are top-notch."
