Chelsea v Wolves team news | Mount dropped for Tuchel's first game

As the Chelsea reign of Thomas Tuchel starts against Wolves this evening, attention turns to what kind of team Tuchel will favour.
The lineups for the match are below, with Mason Mount - a favourite of Frank Lampard - not in the starting 11.

Chelsea prospects

German football analyst Rob Daly told us what type of management Blues fans and players can expect.

Tuchel's appointment was confirmed on Tuesday evening after the sacking of Frank Lampard on Monday, and Daly believes that Chelsea can prepare for something of a 'tracksuit' manager.

Thomas Tuchel: 'proper coach' for Chelsea

"He has been doing this for 17 years now, it was around 2004 he started working in youth football in Germany. He's a proper coach," Daly said of Tuchel.

"He did it with under-19 level at Bundesliga clubs, and was wanted by the German football association (DFB) at one point to be the under-21 coach with the national team. But Mainz took a risk on him, not long after Jurgen Klopp had left for Borussia Dortmund.

"He had sort of followed Klopp's career a little bit by replacing him at Dortmund when the Klopp era ran into the ground a little bit in 2015."

Improvement

But Tuchel is by no means a Klopp knock-off, Daly is backing him to improve Chelsea's current playing squad.

"Every single player who has worked with him will speak to the extent to which he has improved them.

"I think he'll look at the group at Chelsea and he'll be backing himself; yes, it's an 18 month contract - but I think Tuchel has signed that backing himself, definitely, to be staying much longer than that.

"It is an appointment that says to me that there is way too much on the line to bring in an interim coach until the end of the campaign."

Werner & Havertz

One of the supposed reasons behind Lampard's dismissal was an inability to get a tune from Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

Tuchel will be in a better position to do so, according to Daly.

"I think he looks at players like Christian Pulisic, who he brought through at Dortmund, and nurtured his development in the first team.

"He will look at [Kai] Havertz and [Timo] Werner and will know them very well from the Bundesliga.

"I think that there are a lot of reasons to join the dots, from a Chelsea point of view, to not only salvage this season but build for the future.

"My overriding memory of Werner at Stuttgart - when he was known to be potentially the next great German forward - was his ability to get into goal-scoring positions very easily, with his intelligence and pace."

Can Tuchel improve confidence at Chelsea

Daly believes that Werner's struggles are likely due to a lack of confidence, something that Tuchel can work on.

"For Havertz, I don't think it's impossible he plays both of them up front as a pair. We saw a similar thing at PSG last season with a 4-2-2-2 system, and I can see him doing something similar with Havertz and Werner up front."
