Chelsea are reportedly intent on completing the signing of Diego Costa before the World Cup kicks off. The Blues are looking to seal the €40m deal before Thursday’s kick off.
The deal is set to be completed following Chelsea meeting the buyout clause in the Brazilian born striker’s contract, however the London club are believed to be frustrated by the slow process.
Speaking to the BBC, a Chelsea source said: "Chelsea look forward to entering into formal transfer documentation with Atletico Madrid as soon as possible so that the player can concentrate on the World Cup."
"Chelsea have made an offer to Atletico Madrid in compliance with the buyout terms in Diego Costa's contract.
"We have been advised that the player has invoked a buyout clause and directed the club to accept Chelsea's offer."
