Can Leicester's direct style of play work in the Champions League?

Ex-Ireland, Chelsea and West Brom defender Paddy Mulligan believes Leicester's direct style of play won't work as effectively in the Champions League.

The Foxes open their group stage campaign against Club Brugge of Belgium and although a direct manner of play was instrumental in winning the Premier League last season, Mulligan feels that won't be as suitable in Europe.

"Leicester have never experienced that before. It's going to be a huge culture shock to them," he told the Rewind podcast.

"They might not get away too much with playing the ball over the top for Vardy. European teams are more aware and far more astute about what's going on. And so much play from the European teams is always to feet, very, very rarely over the top. The man on the ball always has options of who to play the ball to. Sometimes in England you don't get that option because of the pace of the game. So it will be interesting to see how Leicester adjust to a different way of playing."
