Less than 24 hours after painting a 1916 tribute in the centre circle of the Carlisle Grounds to commemorate the Rising's 100th anniversary, Bray Wanderers have been told to remove the mural.
The Wicklow club play Sligo Rovers on Saturday evening in the Premier Division, but the groundsmen will have some last minute changes to make to the field before kick-off.
According to The Sun, "Fifa rules forbid any ‘non-football’ markings within the boundaries of the pitch", which the mural falls under.
Both teams go into the game, looking for their first win of the season. Bray have lost three of their opening four games, while Sligo Rovers have drawn two of their first four games.
