How has Klopp convinced his Liverpool players to adopt his methods so quickly?

At least away from home, there is growing evidence that Jurgen Klopp is really making his mark in the Premier League.

Following the 3-1 win at Chelsea before the international break, the Reds went to Manchester City on Saturday, pressed the life out of their defence and came away with a 4-1 victory.

As the Reds enjoy an upturn in performance levels since Brendan Rodgers was sacked, The Times' Merseyside correspondent Tony Barrett joined Joe to chat about Klopp's encouraging start so far.

"I think key to it all was Klopp arrived and decided that Liverpool weren't training enough. He knew that there was only limited time to get his methods across if this season was going to be salvaged. So he arrived, looked at the days off schedule and decided to cancel pretty much every single one of them and the players have had to take that on the chin. You have to give them credit for that," Barrett told Off The Ball, adding that Philippe Coutinho in particular has spurned expectations by taking quickly to Klopp's methods, highlighted by the pressing on Bacary Sagna which led to Liverpool's opening goal against Man City.

Barrett also believes teams will start mimicking aspects of Liverpool's approach when they take on City as the season progresses to try and unsettle them.

Meanwhile, Christian Benteke was a second half substitute on Saturday with Roberto Firmino leading the line, leading to some early questions about the former Aston Villa target man's suitability for Klopp's system.

"The way Coutinho and Firmino linked means they have to play. You've now got Daniel Sturridge who's approaching full fitness and if he's fully fit, you would expect him to start because he is Liverpool's best finisher when he's fully fit and firing. It is an interesting one for Benteke. He doesn't seem a natural fit for the way Klopp wants to play. But having said that, when he came on at the weekend, he did seem more mobile and Klopp did say something about him being quicker on his legs."
