Barcelona offer €170m in two installments to buy Neymar from PSG

Barcelona have offered Paris Saint-Germain €170m for Brazilian forward Neymar.

It's the latest turn in the longest-running and most tiresome transfer saga of the summer. Barca have reportedly tried and failed with a number of avenues as they attempt to bring Neymar back to the Camp Nou after two seasons in Paris.

Cash-plus-player deals had been mooted, with €100m and Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane Dembele or Philippe Coutinho (now at Bayern Munich) the most common.

Now, Le Parisien claim that Barcelona's representatives are offering €170m to PSG, payable in two installments. The deal would be a permanent one, with PSG unwilling to countenance any kind of loan.

Neymar left Barcelona for PSG for a world record €222 in the summer of 2017.

Barcelona and PSG representatives have been meeting at the offices of the Ligue 1 champions in Boulogne-Billancourt as they attempt to thrash out a deal for the 27-year old. Neymar's agent Pini Zahavi has been part of those discussions as well.

Sporting Director Eric Abidal, Sports Director Oscar Grau and General Manager Javier Bordas have been doing the talking for Barcelona. Sporting Director Leonardo is leading the PSG delegation, but club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is not involved.

Paris Saint-Germain are yet to indicate whether or not they agree to Barca's new proposal.

Real Madrid have also been hovering as potential Neymar suitors, while Juventus haven't been ruled out either. But it seems discussions are at such a stage with Barcelona that it will be the Camp Nou or a grumpy season at the Parc des Princes for the Brazilian.

Neymar hasn't been involved for PSG so far this season, with head coach Thomas Tuchel unwilling to involve him until his future is decided one way or the other, "He has trained well, has worked to recover from his discomfort and is physically fit to play, but the club has been clear. If the situation is not resolved, he won't play".
