Sky Sports are reporting that Gonzalo Higuain is on the brink of a move to Juventus for a fee believed to be in the region of €94 million pending a medical.
The 28-year-old has been the subject of prolonged speculation linked him with moves to Arsenal and Atletico Madrid but both have lost out with Juventus furthering their stranglehold on Serie A.
Having lost Alvaro Morata to Real Madrid due to a buy-back clause in his contract, Juventus had to bring in a replacement and have strengthened their own squad while also significantly weakening a rival with the move for the Argentine striker.
He scored 38 goals for Napoli last season and almost fired them to a scudetto but their form dipped dramatically at the end of the season and they could not keep pace with eventual winners Juventus.
The transfer has further implications in the transfer market and Juve's outlay suggests they know they have a large bulk of money coming in in the coming weeks. This will and should excite Manchester United fans who were informed recently by L'Equipe that a deal had been struck between the Italian side and United representatives.
