Aston Villa caretaker manager says the club could "implode" after relegation

Aston Villa's relegation to The Championship should be confirmed on Saturday afternoon as the team travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Villa are at the foot of the table and lie 15 points behind Norwich with only five games left in the season. Norwich play in Saturday's early game at home to Sunderland, knowing anything other than a loss will condemn the Birmingham side to the drop.

Speaking on Friday ahead of their trip to Manchester, Aston Villa's caretaker manager Eric Black revealed that the club may have serious issues once the relegation is confirmed. "This could very easily implode. It could very easily turn into anarchy, it could easily happen."

Villa have lost eight games in a row in the Premier League, with Back being their third manager in a tumultuous season. Tim Sherwood started the season in charge, before being replaced by Remi Garde. The French manager was sacked last month after being unable to turn the club's fortunes around.

In what has been a rough period for the club, captain Gabriel Agbonlahor is two miss two weeks of matches to undergo "a personal fitness programme". The former England international is the longest serving player at the club.

Whether Black's prophecy of implosion happens in Villa Park remains to be seen.
