Ashley Cole will move outside of England this summer, but has not agreed terms with Roma, according to his agent.
The former Chelsea defender is now a free agent following the expiration of his contract at the end of last season.
Chelsea declined to offer the left-back a new contract and reports now claim Cole is to make a lucrative move to Serie A side Roma.
Cole’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, told the BBC: "Nothing has been done yet and we are taking our time.
"Several clubs are interested but at the moment we are just talking to clubs based abroad."
Cole’s time in England appears to have ended with a whimper. Following his move from London rivals Arsenal, Cole spent 8 years at Stamford Bridge, winning a Premier League title, a Champions League and four FA Cups.
His final year at Chelsea was frustrating however, with Jose Mourinho relegating Cole to the role of squad player. Cole started just 15 games in the Premier League last season. He was then left out of Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad. Following the news that he would not be going to Brazil, Cole announced his was retiring from international football, after 107 caps.
