Arsenal hint at hope with 3-0 Community Shield win

Arsenal looked a potent force with genuine title credentials at Wembley today as they won the Community Shield with a 3-0 win over Manchester City. While there is little of worth to be garnered from this early season exchange, the result and performance will have sparked hope amongst the Gunners’ faithful.

Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud were the scorers, with Giroud’s a particularly fine effort coming from a long way out.

New singing Alexis Sanchez made his debut and looked up to the task of repaying his €37m price tag.

Manchester City were without several key players – notably Vincent Kompany, and Sergio Aguero – and the Premier League champions looked like they were still languishing in pre-season mode, while Arsenal appeared already settled into a higher competitive gear.

Cazorla opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, skipping past the mistimed tackle of Dedryck Boyata before shooting past Caballero.

The second came from Ramsey on 42 minutes, with Giroud adding the third on the hour mark.
